Ron Swanson spent the better part of his career working in Pawnee’s local government — a fact he does not consider a point of pride. What he learned during those years was mostly what not to do. In 2013, he left to start something he could actually believe in: a construction company built on craftsmanship, honesty, and the principle that a thing worth doing is worth doing right.

Ron handles the overall direction of Very Good Building & Contracting Co. He sets standards, approves bids on major projects, and is not interested in your opinion unless you’ve built something with your hands.

Don Swanson is Ron’s older brother and the person most likely to be on a job site at 6 a.m. before anyone else arrives. He oversees the construction division at Very Good Building & Contracting Co., managing project timelines, subcontractor relationships, and the day-to-day reality of getting buildings built.

Don shares his brother’s belief that quality is non-negotiable and that most problems on a job site come from poor planning, not bad luck. He is the kind of person who checks the work twice and still sleeps fine at night.

Lon Swanson is Ron’s younger brother and the operational backbone of Very Good Building & Contracting Co.’s field teams. Where Don oversees the construction process from a project level, Lon is responsible for the people and equipment that make it happen — scheduling crews, managing materials logistics, and ensuring that every active job site is running the way it should.

Lon has a reputation among the team for remembering every detail of every active project simultaneously and for having very little patience for equipment that isn’t maintained properly.

Trevor Nelsson has served as legal counsel to Very Good Building & Contracting Co. since its founding. He handles contracts, liability, licensing compliance, and any situation that requires someone to read the fine print so the Swansons don’t have to.

Trevor is a practicing attorney based in Pawnee with broad experience in construction law, commercial contracts, and business litigation. He is thorough, detail-oriented, and one of the few people Ron Swanson will take a phone call from without prior notice.
